AI Estimating Assistant
Yes. Roofing is one of the best use cases for AI estimating. Aerial measurement integrations (Nearmap, EagleView, Hover) produce precise roof measurements without a ladder, and AI applies your material and labour rates to generate a complete estimate. Most residential re-roofing jobs can be quoted remotely and accurately.
The aerial measurement workflow: the customer provides their address, the AI pulls satellite or drone imagery from your connected measurement provider, and the software calculates square footage, pitch, valleys, ridges, and penetrations automatically. Combined with your material pricing and labour rates, the output is a detailed estimate broken down by area.
Accuracy is strong for standard residential roofs: within 3–5% of a manually measured estimate for gable and hip roofs with clear aerial visibility. Accuracy drops for roofs with heavy tree cover, complex architecture, or multiple additions — those require physical measurement for a reliable quote.
For roofing contractors, the business case is clear: instead of spending 20–30 minutes per site visit for a measurement-and-quote call, you produce a remote estimate in 5–10 minutes. You can send three to four times as many quotes per day. For storm damage restoration work where lead volume spikes suddenly, this matters enormously — you can quote the entire neighbourhood in one afternoon instead of scheduling 30 site visits over two weeks.
Common questions
For remote measurement, yes. EagleView and Nearmap are the most common integrations — both have per-report pricing. For jobs where you have your own measurements from a physical inspection, you enter those directly and the AI handles the pricing calculation without aerial imagery.
